The Tanjong Jara Trip (Pt II) Issue

here's my second installment for my trip to tanjong jara:

Day 2 (Wednesday, August 4, 2004)

woke up around 9:30am and got ready to head down to the "Di Atas Sungei" again for breakfast. this restaurant was the only one that served breakfast. the breakfast menu was pretty good. a good blend of local and western cuisine. this time, we sat on the terrace which, is above the man-made river.

the pics above were taken while we were having breakfast on the terrace. the terrace was built over a man-made river giving that exotic effect. as we were having breakfast, the sun broke through the trees and it was getting hot. after having about 4 servings, we decided to get changed and headed for the beach.

once we arrived, we both applied some sunblock lotion and ran towards the crashing waves. hell, the waves were HUGE and the current was extremely strong. i got dragged into the sea quite a few times and resistence was practically futile. the wind was strong and so was the sun. the sun blazed and scorched our sunblock covered skin. still, i could feel a bit of a burning sensation. nevertheless, the beach was a beauty to behold. the waters were blue, the sands were white. the entire place was simply paradise untainted. after getting swamped by the waves more than a hundred times, we decided to head for the resort's swimming pool where we could swim in clear water minus the salt. the pool was pretty deep. its depth was 1.60m - barely touching my chin. i had to tip toe to make sure i didnt drown LOL. yea, yea.. i'm just short. here are some pics:

after having a swim, we decided to grab some lunch at the "Nelayan" restaurant. this restaurant served light meals such as sandwiches and burgers. local dishes such as nasi goreng kampung and fried kuey teow were amongst the choices too. the restaurant was situated alongside the beach and had a great view of the surroundings. i had the nasi goreng kampung and to my dismay, it was filled with chopped bunga kantan. tasted somewhat like serai. un-appetizing. shai had the fried kuey teow but it was too spicy so i ate his order LOL. he then ordered chicken burger and that one tasted good. whilst having lunch, we noticed a dandelion gently floating in mid-air being blown by the salty sea-breeze. what was so great about this? it was HUGE! unlike our small, puny ass regular dandelions, this one was really big. about the size of a big duku langsat. no kidding. there you have it, big waves and big dandelions. the entire restaurant was open-air; meaning, no walls so guests will be constantly be cooled by the sea-breeze. awesome cooling effect.

after a nice lunch, we headed back to the room to nap for a bit. we were really pooped out from all the swimming and a heavy lunch.

after napping, we woke up around 7pm and got ready for dinner. again, dinner was being served the the "Nelayan". for dinner, we had barbecue by the beach. it was awesome and romantic as hell. it was basically a candle light dinner. not only was it a barbecue dinner by the beach, every table was serenaded by a duo. they moved from table to table playing songs requested by the guests. we requested for belaian jiwa and this dude could really sing. a guest requested for louise armstrong's song, 'what a wonderful world' and guess what? he could even imitate the husky voice! really talented. dinner was amazing and weather was cool with the wind blowing in our hair. here's how the area looked like:

after dinner, we walked around for a bit to savour the sights and sounds of nature. the entire resort was simply breath-taking and lovely. after much walk and getting pains in our sides due to overstuffing ourselves, we headed back to the room to rest and for me to catch the season finale of Charmed!! hahhhahaa! heck, its a 2 hour episode finale and i had to watch and thank god they had astro heheh. knocked out after that. sadly, we were leaving the next day.

that concludes part II of my trip. stay tuned for the third and final part of my wonderful holiday at tanjong jara. :)
